A set of Honda S2000 Chakuriki coilovers have recently arrived for one of our customers who had some very particular requirements with regards to their suspension setup. Not to worry though; with every 326POWER coilover set being assembled by hand in Japan, we can provide a truly bespoke coilover service and give you exactly what you want.
In this case, the customer required 32 and 24K spring rates. Their car will be extremely low with very aggressive wheel fitment, so heavier spring rates were required to keep all of this under control. The dampers were valved suitably to cope with these spring rates prior to assembly.
With aggressive wheel fitment comes super wide wheels and very low offsets. In some cases, running wide front wheels can result in them fouling the coilover units (especially on cars that use a double wishbone front suspension setup, like the S2000). In some cases, we can supply an adjustable top mount that would allow you to slide the top of coilover further inboard but, for the S2000, we can supply an offset top mount that fixes the coilovers further away from the front wheels. You can see this on the left in the photo above.
While the heavy spring rates should limit extreme damper movement sufficiently to prevent any contact between the wheels/tyres and the arches, there are sometimes extreme freak circumstances where excessive damper travel needs to be stopped in its tracks (a big pothole on the road, for example). In the case of such an emergency, polyurethane bump stops have been fitted to the damper shafts, just in case.
The damper units themselves are 326POWER's own that you will find on all 326POWER Chakuriki coilovers. These are nothing like the generic dampers that you will find on the majority of coilovers.
Helper springs have also been fitted to the front and rear coilover units. These are necessary to prevent spring movement when running a decent amount of droop, which these coilovers have been to set to in order to aid ride quality and comfort. This is based on 326POWER Japan's extensive real world testing on slammed cars.
The locking collars below the springs are secured with pinch bolts. Both these collars and the smaller items securing the bottom bracket can then be turned using the supplied C spanners that are unique to 326POWER.
We could have stared at them all day; it almost feels a shame to put 326POWER coilovers on a car when they look as incredible as they do but, nevertheless, it was time to box them up and send them on their way...
